Halloween Pet Hazards

Beware of these spooky pet dangers lurking in the darkness…

Although this spooky season may feel a little different this year, Halloween pet hazards are still lurking around dark corners for our pets this holiday. Sure, we all know that trick-or-treat sweets like chocolate or raisins (well, maybe not so much of a treat) are harmful to pets, but did you know that there are other dangers that come with this fun and frightful holiday? From glow sticks to sugar-free candy to open doorways, Halloween can be a spooky time for our pets.

Check out the video from our YouTube channel to learn about the hazards to watch out for so that Halloween can still be a treat for you AND your pets!

When taking your pets for a walk or after the Halloween festivities are winding down, make sure to be on the lookout for any candy or wrappers left on the ground or around the house. Keep Halloween decorations like lit jack-o-lanterns out of reach for playful paws and wagging tails to prevent injury.

If your pet isn’t afraid of wearing a costume, make sure to supervise them while they’re haunting the house or strutting their stuff. And finally, while you’re passing out goodies for trick-or-treaters, make sure to fence off or keep your pets in another part of the house where they cannot escape. Those giggling goblins, scary strobe lights, and cackling witches can cause pets to quickly bolt out the front door.

And remember, if your furry friends do come across any of these Halloween pet hazards during this spooky season, our Dundee location is always open 24/7 for illnesses and emergencies. Stay safe and a very happy Halloween to our 2 and 4-legged monsters!
