Bio

Dr. Joe Lupo earned his Biology degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2010. He took his veterinary studies to Ross University in the Caribbean on the island of St. Kits and completed his doctorate at the University of Illinois in 2014.

His special interests include internal medicine, anesthesia, and surgery. In addition to treating dogs and cats, he also sees exotic pocket pets including rabbits, chinchillas, hedgehogs, ferrets, rats, and guinea pigs at our Elgin location. In his free time, Dr. Lupo volunteers his time at 4 Paw Luv, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic that partners with the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago. This program can offer spay/neuter services to those who need a low-cost option for their animals (including feral cats and assisting small rescues).

Dr. Lupo, his wife, and daughter share their home with a tortoiseshell cat, Liamuiga, and an Australian Cattle Dog Mix named Piper. When he’s not practicing medicine, he enjoys kayaking, running, and paddleboarding.
