Pet Wellness Care in Kane County, McHenry County, Cook County, Dupage County and Lake County

Our time with our pets is always far too short, but we can help you make that time count! Further improvements in veterinary medicine and education enable our pets to live longer than they ever have before, and we’d like to continue this trend. Pet wellness exams are vital to your pet’s health and longevity, because they allow us to proactively prevent disease and other issues. Working collaboratively with pet owners and maintaining a consistent schedule will go a long way towards helping them spend more quality time with their beloved companions.

Dog Wellness Exams

Pet wellness care has various components, from the comprehensive dog wellness exam to laboratory diagnostics. During the dog check up, your veterinarian will check your pet’s weight, temperature, respiratory rate and heart rate, ears, eyes, mouth, skin and coat, joints/limbs, etc. If you have a new puppy, we’ll need to discuss parasite prevention, housebreaking and training, vaccinations, spay and neuter, behavior, nutrition and more to start them off right.

We recommend fecal tests to check for intestinal parasites, which many puppies are born with. We will need to test them again following treatment, to ensure that they’re parasite-free.

Cat Wellness Exam

Your veterinarian will want to see your cat once a year for their pet wellness exam and any additional treatments. During new kitten appointments, we will discuss a variety of topics including litter box training, diet, exercise, microchipping, parasite prevention, and spaying or neutering. Cats also require annual fecal testing, and can be safely treated with medication to eradicate parasites.

Parasite Prevention

Both cats and dogs can fall victim to parasites, but there are many ways to treat and prevent the problems they may cause. We offer various high-quality flea, tick and heartworm preventatives to keep pets protected, and recommend that they be given regularly for maximum effect. Even strictly indoor pets can be vulnerable to parasites; therefore it is better to be safe than sorry.

For the best care, pets need to come in for annual cat & dog wellness exams. Senior pets should see us every six months for a full evaluation and to check for acute or chronic issues. We love seeing our pet patients thriving and greeting us with wagging tails or head rubs! Our goal is always to improve their quality of life and give them many more years to spend with you.

Real Stories from Real Owners

Today we had the unfortunate experience of having to put down our precious Layla. She was almost 15 and it was time. I can’t thank Dr Larson and staff of how kind, caring and compassionate the staff was. No rushing us at all. The room was ours for as long as we needed. They made a difficult moment in our lives, just a bit easier. They made her up a delicious meal and even offered her chocolate. Thank you so much for making this difficult moment in our lives a little bit easier. RIP Sweet Layla you will be forever missed
We love Dr. Luppo. He's so kind and it's obvious he loves our dogs! He is THE BEST. Thank you, Dr. Luppo!!
Dr. Maras' knowledge, patience and expertise are unmatched. She always takes as much time as is necessary and explains everything thoroughly. Her thoughtfulness and kindness are always appreciated. She has taken care of many of my dogs and cats over the years and I can't say enough about her. The staff is always very helpful and efficient. Thank you Dr. Maras for being exceptional!
I had to go there when I just moved to area and my dog needed emergency care. Have been going there since
