Surgery and Monitoring
The surgical and IV placement sites are shaved and the surgical site is scrubbed. Invasive surgeries require a sterile operating environment and each patient has its own surgical pack with the instruments required for the specific procedure.
Monitoring your pet's vital signs during surgery is an important part of our surgical team's responsibility and our staff is trained to respond to any and all changes in your pet's vital signs. Advanced medical monitoring equipment, including an electrocardiogram (ECG), which monitors the heart rate and rhythm, and a pulse oximeter, which measures the oxygen level in the bloodstream, are the most common monitoring devices utilized during the surgical procedure.
