Dr. Kelly Kavanaugh grew up in Yorkville, IL and traveled to Florida to complete her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of Miami. After Kelly realized she would not be around animals as much as she’d hoped with Marine Biology, she shifted her focus to prepare for veterinary school.
Kelly went on to earn her DVM at the University of Illinois in 2015. Kelly has special interests in oncology, cytology and soft tissue surgery. Her favorite class while in veterinary school was a communications elective that showed her the importance of being able to effectively connect and relate with clients.
In her free time, Kelly likes to hike, garden, and do anything that involves the outdoors. She also enjoys practicing Spanish and horseback riding. She has two dogs, Rilo and Tilly, who are both hound mixes. Kelly loves all dogs, but has a special place in her heart for beagles and hounds!
